Guarianthe (formerly Cattleya) bowringiana is a showy species from Guatemala and Belize that usually gives us sprays of bright magenta flowers, but these are the coerulea form, so instead you get violet shades. Add this to the fact that these can make up to 30 flowers per inflorescence with some awarded specimens carrying over 350 flowers and buds and you've got a great showoff! Gur. bowringiana is a late summer bloomer and fills a timeframe when most other Cattleyas are resting with lots of bright color. Plants are near-flowering size in 3" pots.
