Cattleya tenebrosa (Treated) (1728)
Cattleya tenebrosa ('Bronze King' x 'Paul' AM/AOS)
Cattleya (Laelia) tenebrosa is a gorgeous and showy Cattleya species from Brazil that is known for its large copper-colored flowers with an intense, deep purple lip. These plants grow to become very showy specimen plants with some plants showing off with nearly 8" wide flowers! I missed taking a picture of the first of these to flower last year but saw some gorgeous chocolate to red sepals and petals and some absolutely gorgeous deep purple lips. These plants are in sheath and ready to flower this summer in appropriate conditions. These plants were treated to induce polyploidy. Plants are flowering size in 6" pots.
