This is going to be a fun new hybrid! Bulb. frostii 'Carmine Claw' CHM/AOS is a cultivar of Bulbophyllum frostii that produces open flowers rather than the usual clog shaped flowers. Bulbophyllum macrobulbum 'Magnifico' AM/AOS was the first and only awarded cultivar of the species for over twenty years until our newest generation of seedlings started getting awards in December of 2021. With these parents, we are expecting much smaller plants than Bulb. macrobulbum with vigorous growth and flowers that will sit in the red tones - hopefully imparting some of the orange petals to their progeny. We can also expect some heavy spotting in these flowers. The last two pictures show two flowers from two very similar hybrids. Plants are near flowering size in 3" pots.
