Ansellia africana is a spectacular species that ranges from South Africa through to Kenya and Sudan, and out West to Sierra Leone! These have a beautiful range of color from bright yellow with a few dark maroon spots, to being nearly completely covered in deep maroon (almost black) spots. This is a very hardy species that can handle full sun and has been known to survive in areas with as little as twelve inches of rain per year! Of course, they enjoy being watered like Cattleyas in cultivation and can make large specimen plants that get covered in flowers. These are large flowering size plants in 6" pots.
